Safety guidelines

Last updated: 26 October 2026

MarriageOrNothing is built for people seeking marriage in good faith. Most members are genuine, but you should take sensible precautions with anyone you meet online.

Protect your money

  • Never send money, gifts, airtime or cryptocurrency to another member, for any reason — including emergencies, travel or “investment”.
  • MarriageOrNothing will never ask you to pay another member. The only payments on the platform are wallet deposits made through our checkout.
  • Report anyone who asks for money. Requests for money are a breach of our Community Guidelines.

Protect your information

  • Keep your home address, workplace details, bank information and identity documents private.
  • Take time before moving the conversation off the platform. Our messaging keeps your phone number and email private.
  • Remember that anything you share can be screenshotted or recorded, including your video introduction.

Meeting in person

  • Meet in a busy public place and arrange your own transport.
  • Tell a friend or family member where you are going and who you are meeting.
  • Involve family early if that is your custom — it is a good sign when a match welcomes it.

Understand our badges

  • Video Profile Reviewed means our team reviewed the video against our standards. It does not prove identity, occupation, marital status or sincerity.
  • Identity Verified means an identity document was checked by our review team.
  • Marriage Intent Declared means the member stated their marriage timeline — it is their own declaration.

Block and report

You can block or report any member from their profile, a reach-out or a conversation. Blocking immediately stops all contact and cancels any pending requests between you, at no charge. The member you report is never told who reported them. If you are in immediate danger, contact the Nigeria Police Force emergency line (112).
